Artist
Emerging from Sintra, Portugal, Them Flying Monkeys have carved out a distinct space in the European alternative scene with their fierce blend of post punk urgency and neo psychedelic atmosphere. Known for their precision melodic rock and electrifying live performances, the five piece have evolved from their DIY roots into one of Portugal’s most ambitious and export ready acts.
Their latest record, Best Behavior (2025), marks a bold new chapter, an expansive and confident work that fuses their rock foundations with a daring electronic edge. Released in partnership with gig.ROCKS! and Only Lovers Records (France), the album’s singles Next Emma Stone, Great Song and Pretty Sticks have drawn international praise from Rolling Stone France, It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine (SI), Addict Culture (FR), Muzzart (FR), Negative White (CH) and Persona Edition (FR).
In 2025 alone, Them Flying Monkeys have performed over 40 shows across Portugal, Spain and France, making standout appearances at WestWay Lab (PT), New Colossus Festival (USA), Focus Wales (UK), Reeperbahn Festival (DE) and Monkey Week (ES), further cementing their reputation as one of Europe’s most compelling live acts.
With Eurosonic 2026 and a UK and European tour on the horizon, Them Flying Monkeys are stepping into a new phase, one defined by reinvention, risk and release.
Live, Them Flying Monkeys are pure catharsis, unpredictable yet precise, a collision of melody and distortion, beauty and bite. It is this tension and their refusal to stand still that makes Them Flying Monkeys one of the most exciting rock bands to emerge from Portugal’s new wave.
Their upcoming single Big Boy arrives on November 21 and introduces a striking new layer to their evolution. Produced and mixed by Jeremy R. G. Snyder (IDLES, Fontaines D.C., Sprints, Gilla Band), Big Boy dives deep into the raw and restless side of growing up. It captures the moment between youth and responsibility, where noise meets vulnerability and pretending feels like survival.
